Part of our objective in the GED Preparation Program is to assess student abilities. To do so, we use several kinds of assessment, including intake interviews, which help us understand a student’s background and goals; basic tests for common learning disabilities, which help us to provide accommodations; pre-tests, which help us understand specific skills within a subject area, and questions during tutoring, which provide immediate feedback. All of these assessments are used to understand student abilities and needs, so that we can best prepare students to meet their goals.
