1. Is it too late to register for Winter quarter?
The best time to register for Winter Quarter Northwest Indian College classes is NOW! This is a good time to register because, with Christmas mail problems, it can take up to a month to receive textbooks needed for courses. Also, financial aid is key and it takes awhile for brand-new students to get it all straightened out.
However, technically, Winter Quarter registration is open until the end of the first week of the quarter, which would be Friday, January 15th.
2. Which classes are being offered?
Please see the attached course list:
NWIC_Winter_2010_Course_Schedule_-_MS.pdf
3. When is the first day of classes?
The first day of classes is January 11, 2010.
4. I’ve been out of college awhile. Will my credits transfer to Northwest Indian College?
If you’ve been out of college for fewer than 10 years, your credits should transfer. If it has been over 10 years, the credits may not transfer. It is up to the discretion of the NWIC Registrar and College instructors.
5. How do I get help with financial aid applications?
Marie Marquez of the Muckleshoot Tribe’s Scholarship Department is a great resource, and she is willing to help Muckleshoots and non-Muckleshoots alike. Her phone number is 253-876-3382.
If you have been contacted by the NWIC Financial Aid Office and need specific forms, please be sure to write down what forms you need and contact Esther John at the NWIC-Muckleshoot office. She will have many of the forms you need to complete.
6. What do I do if I can’t attend the first week of classes?
This is up to your instructors’ discretion. Some may feel you really need to be at the first week of classes and that you should wait until a quarter when you can attend all classes to take their course. Others may be willing to help you catch up to the class or may give you a beginning assignment to help you be up to speed when you get to class.
Therefore, the thing to do is to contact and/or make arrangements with your instructor if you know you will be absent from classes.
